Dear Parents and Karateka
re: JUNE GRADING 2015 - WELGEMOED DOJO
This year has started with a bang and once again it is time for our first grading of the year. The standard of our karateka is good but there are some very young karateka who already have Blue or Yellow belts, who should only grade at the end of the year. From Light green belt it takes 1 year to the next grading. You will be informed about this decision in a letter in the next few weeks. I would like to request the karateka to keep training and to attend the classes regularly.
Our first grading will be during JUNE at the WELGEMOED DOJO,next to the Bellville Golf Course.
According to new grading regulations in Japan all belts have changed from 2007.
- 10th Kyu - Orange belt
- 9th Kyu - Maroon belt
- 8th Kyu - Light blue belt
- 7th Kyu - Dark blue belt
- 6th Kyu - Yellow belt
- 5th Kyu - Purple belt
- 4th Kyu - Light green belt
- 3rd Kyu - Dark green belt
- Two brown belts 2nd Kyu. 1st Kyu have a golden stripe on belt;
- Thereafter follow the ten (10) black belts(Dan’s).
SCHOLARS AND ADULTS:
Their first grading will be for the orange belt (10th Kyu). The second grading will be for a Maroon belt (9th Kyu), etc. as mentioned above.
Karateka must be dressed in a clean karate-gi (uniform) before coming to the grading – our space is limited. Karateka must be at the dojo at least 10 minutes early, to register at the counter and pay the registration fee. THE GRADING FEE MUST BE PAID AT THE GRADING.
The belts are NOT included in the grading fee and are available at R50,00 each at the dojo.
Parents & family are more than welcome to attend the grading and are allowed to take photos and videos. There will be a professional photographer present to take photos. Visitors are requested to take off their shoes before entering the wooden floor area. Thank you for your co-operation. If karateka cannot make the dates set for the grading, please phone my office to arrange for an alternate date.
We have a variety of Kyokushin clothing, Training equipment, Bedding and different Martial Arts weapons equipment for sale at our FIGHTING SPIRIT shop in Welgemoed. Friends and family are welcome to wear our clothing. We also have the colour belts and karate uniforms available. The prices of uniforms range from R360.00 – R420.00, depending on the size. Please turn the page for the grading schedule.
Karate Greetings
