ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. FEES FOR 2ND TERM MUST BE PAID IN FULL NOT LATER THAN
30 APRIL 2016 (Except the clients who are on debit order)
TO ALL PARENTS WITH OUTSTANDING FEES
We as instructors feel that we can no longer spend our time and energy begging people for outstanding fees. There are still many students who did not pay their fees for the first term. That is fees that should have been paid in January 2016 .
Students whose fees are not paid for the 1st term will be asked to sit out from NEXT WEEK.
I hope that you will understand and that we will receive your co-operation in this matter. We have an option of debit orders where you can pay per month instead of the terms fee that should be paid in full. Please contact OHNA at our office.
2. 2016 WESTERN PROVINCE TOURNAMENT – 7 MAY 2016
We will host abovementioned tournament at Bothasig Town hall. The reason for this move from the normal venue at the university campuses is that we want to make sure that your safety is guaranteed.
If a karateka received a Tournament letter with his or her name filled in, he/she was chosen by the instructor to take part. We will have kumite (fighting) as well as kata (forms). A karateka may take part in both.
The first 3 places will receive medals. (Two divisions will be combined if there are less than 4 fighters in a specific division.
3. KARATE UNIFORMS
The wearing of a karate uniform is compulsory and helps to ensure discipline in class and create a sense of belonging. Please try your utmost to buy the suit by the end of April 2016.
A karate suit that is specially made for our specific style are available from our “Fighting Spirit” Martial Arts shop in Welgemoed and the price range from R370 – R400 per suit, depending on the size.
All students (from Grade 1) who started at the beginning of the year MUST have shin pads and gloves. This is to protect the karateka as well as the opponent from injuries. A full set of approved gloves and pads cost R300 at our shop. Please invest in that please.
4. INTERNATIONAL CAMP : 13 – 15 MAY 2016 – WEMMERSHOEK
Our International camp will take place at the Voortrekker camp site, WEMMERSHOEK Voortrekker Camp, near PAARL.
This annual International camp always proved to be very interesting and enjoyable. During the International camp we will learn new and interesting techniques from our visiting Japanese Instructors , while we will use the September camp to prepare the karateka going for brown and black belt for their grading. All karateka 8 years and older are welcome to attend. Younger karateka can attend a day’s training on the Saturday. We will hand out information on that, next week.
On Sunday afternoon we will have a grading from 13h30 for Senior instructors. Parents can fetch their children from 14h00. The grading will be for senior instructors and not open to public.
These camps are compulsory for karateka who want to grade in December 2016 for their brown and black belts.
** Karateka must arrange their own transport for May camp (NO BUSSES) Just put Wemmershoek dam into GPS for directions. Maps will be available.
5. INSTRUCTOR’S COURSE:
Dates for 2nd term: 15 April 2016, 20 May and 10 June 2016.
Fees: R300 per term and payable in ADVANCE.
6. GRADING MAY – JUNE 2016
The Pre-Primary students will grade on May 21st, while the scholars with white belts will start on the 4th June 2016 . You will receive a full breakdown of dates / grading times by end of April 2016.
NOBODY WILL BE ALLOWED TO GRADE IF ANY FEES ARE OUTSTANDING .
7. YOUNG DRAGONS FIGHTING GROUP
In December we will take a junior national team to the World Tournament in Russia. At this time the exact date has not been decided. The standard of the fighting there is incredibly high and the competitors are extremely fit and conditioned. We have taken a few teams before but so far we only returned with one silver medal in 5 attempts. We have decided to select a group of karateka to prepare for the next 8 months to ensure that our karateka are properly prepared. The karateka will be called “YOUNG DRAGONS” and as they only take part from under 13 internationally, so we will only select karateka 11 years to 17 years and must be brown belt and higher. Younger karateka can join this group from the age of 8 years and blue belt and will be called “BABY DRAGONS”. They will have special training on Wednesday evenings from 18h00, Fridays from 15h30 and Saturdays from 08h30. They have to stay for the full 90 minutes. This group will receive a special badge and can buy a special T-shirt. Training will start immediately.
I hope that all karateka’s standard will improve a great deal this term. If you find that the school’s winter sport program clashes with the karate times, please phone our office or look at our website for alternative training times at nearby dojo’s. It is impossible to please everybody but I am sure that we can make a suitable plan. Your children will only experience the tremendous benefits of karate if they attend the classes on a regular basis.
Karate Greetings
