***** THE NEW TERM HAS STARTED AND I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL PARENTS THAT FEES ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE.
ALL OUTSTANDING FEES MUST BE PAID ON OR BEFORE 31 October 2015.
KARATEKA WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GRADE IF ANY FEES FOR 2015 ARE STILL OUTSTANDING.
2. OUTSTANDING FEES:
The problem with late payments are getting worse and it is becoming very difficult to manage the dojo and run classes of a high standard. All students who still have outstanding fees for the first, second and third terms will be told to sit out during classes until such fees are paid in full. Please do not blame the instructors, the order to let the children sit out comes from me.
We have implemented a debit order system but the reaction was not too great. You can still complete the form and become part of it. There is no extra costs to the parents and it will be so much easier for everybody. Please reconsider.
3. KARATE CAMP : 23 – 25 OCTOBER 2015
Our October camp will take place during the weekend of 23rd to 25th of October at the Okkie Jooste Camp site in Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch. . We will travel with the Elwierda Bus Service for peace of mind. It will not be a problem if parents want to take their children themselves – just inform us in time so that we do not wait at Karl Bremer Hospital for them. At the camp we will have two groups: those grading for Brown and black belts in December and we will add all the current green belts with them to make sure that they also practise the more senior syllabus. Then we will have the younger karateka that will have less training with some fun events thrown in. For the younger karateka up to eight years old, we have a Saturday special of R150 where they will train from 09h00 till 16h00. They will receive lunch, fruit and cool drinks. This special is not for green belts and higher grades as we want them to do more training.
Parents are free to come to the campsite at 12h00 on Sunday to have a braai as it really is a beautiful camp site. The pre-grading for brown and black belts will take place from 13h00 till 15h00. Parents are also welcome to fetch the younger children after 13h30. The bus will arrive back at Karl Bremer at 18h00.
4. LEN BARNES TOURNAMENT – SEPTEMBER 2015
I want to thank everybody for a very successful Len Barnes International Memorial Karate Tournament held on 12th September 2015. Everybody commented on the tournament being a great success. Our fighters won many medals, but it was the positive attitude of all the participating students that impressed us the most. I am very proud of all the karateka who took part and hope that next time we will have even more competing.
We would like to congratulate the following karateka who qualified for their Western Province Colours:
Charnè Oschmann (WJ), Deone Veremu (KEN), Dawid Hanekom (WJ) and Ethan Casteling (KEN)
4. INSTRUCTORS COURSE – 4th TERM 2015
Dates for this term : The first class will be Friday 30th October 2015 and final class Friday 13th November 2015. Please attend these classes in your dogi with pen and writing pad.
Fees: R300 – payable in advance
5. GRADING: BROWN AND BLACK BELTS :
The above grading is taking place on SATURDAY 5th DECEMBER 2015 at WELGEMOED PRIMARY
SCHOOL HALL. Many students that have not yet achieved the required level of technical excellence as well as fitness and strength for their grade. Please try to put in extra training at other dojo’s as karateka grading for black belt need lots of stamina to complete their grading.
BROWN BELT GRADING (2nd Kyu and 1st Kyu Juniors up to 15 years) 8h30 - 11h30
BLACK BELT GRADING (1st Dan) All karateka 13h00 - 16h30
PLUS All adults grading for Brown belt – 16yrs and older)
If you are late, you will NOT be allowed to start the grading.
Please make sure that all Application forms are completed and grading fees are paid in advance, as no admin will be done on the day of the grading. The karateka grading for 1st Dan (Shodan) ) must supply us with a passport size photo to send to Japan for registration. Nobody will be allowed to grade if their fees or photos are outstanding.
Grading fee: Black Belt: 1st Dan R1600.00. Brown Belt : 1st & 2nd Kyu R600. Karateka who grades to brown belt will receive a belt with their name embroidered on the belt and the black belts will come from Japan. I do realize that this is expensive. The increase is due to the very weak rand. Please be aware that we do pay less than first world countries.
All green and brown belt who are grading on 5th December 2015 must try to attend extra classes from 18h00 to 19h30 on Wednesdays at Welgemoed – the instructors will focus on kata for an extra ½ hour and Saturdays 8h30 – 10h00 for Kumite (fighting) or 10h30 – 12h00 for kata. During these classes, they will mostly concentrate on the Bunkai, Bo kata, advanced Ido Geiko and combinations. We will also focus on fitness training to ensure that all students are fit enough to complete their grading.
7. The schools are closing on Wednesday 9th December 2015. Please take note that our Senior classes at Welgemoed will continue until Tuesday 8th December 2015.
Our office will close on Friday 11th December 2015 and re-open on Thursday 7th January 2016
Senior classes will commence on Monday 11th January 2016.
Scholar classes will commence on WEDNESDAY 13th January 2016.
We hope that during the last term you will achieve all the goals you set yourself. We are there to help you with the karate but the hard work has to come from the karateka.
We wish you a Blessed Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!!!!
Karate Greetings
